From August 2, 2016
At the end of 2015, I was invited to try and help the South Kitsap School Supporters gain enough community support to pass our school district’s bond to build a second high school in Port Orchard. I came up with a social media campaign idea that helped raise awareness, and with the combined efforts of the entire SKSS team we became closer than we had ever been before with a margin of only 38 votes holding us back from a victory. This would have been a huge victory for the community, and we have hope that one day enough of our fellow citizens will want to financially support this effort.
I learned a lot from participating in this experience, and I listened to multiple perspectives from both sides. I feel that if we can collaborate more effectively with the part of the community who did not feel like they could support this, one day we will see the dream of a second high school materialize. Here is a small collection of photos taken during the campaign that show off some of the materials I designed for the campaign.
