A few months back I was approached by Brian Moran, owner of Banyan Telecom, about a new business he was starting in our county. Brian told me that his goal was to provide free wi-fi over public spaces such as near bus stops, ferry terminals, or parks. The wi-fi would be funded through selling affordable advertising that would be made available to local businesses at affordable prices. The name of the new business was pretty straight forward; Port Orchard Wi-Fi. My task was to come up with a very clean and easily recognizable logo that communicated reliability, accessibility, and ease of use. We wanted to design a logo that felt local yet was as simple as the universal wi-fi logo. Through great partnership and a few iterations we came up with something that we both really liked and felt represented the essence of what he hopes Port Orchard Wi-Fi will become. We used blue and green to tie in with the environment, but the specific colors we chose were brighter and represent efficient technology.
